International Children’s Film Festival

Around 1,700 people attended the Cinemark Downtown for the opening party of the 8th International Children’s Film Festival in Rio de Janeiro, on Saturday, August 28. The 12 rooms of the cinema complex was filled with shows, music, clowns, balls, balloons and lots of partying!

The International Children’s Film Festival 2010 will bring more than 90 films to Cinemark in various cities in Brazil. These films will present original and classic Brazilian short films and international TV shows and special exhibitions in addition to film animation workshops and debates that will entertain your family.

The premiere will take place in the following cities:

  • Rio de Janeiro and Niterói: August 27  to September 5
  • Brasilia: September 3-12
  • São Paulo and Campinas: September 10-19
  • Belo Horizonte: September 17-26
  • Recife: October 8-17
  • Aracaju and Salvador: October 22-31

The International Children’s Film Festival will also host a forum in Rio de Janeiro Pensar a Infância the second consecutive year, where filmmakers, spectators and supporters will have the opportunity to discuss the cinema for children and youth, making room for ideas and reflections on the Brazilian and international film market. This forum will have a panel of professionals who will share their experiences on the creation, production and content distribution of the films shown.

FICI shows five films this project for students of public and private schools and provides extensive educational material for teachers for future activities.

The children will get to experience various workshops, and learn the techniques used in film animation.
