This is a post on a personal note. We are close to the end of October and I should have posted this earlier. What happened last month was an eye opener for our family. (You will notice that I did not post for a little over 4 weeks) My mother, who is 72 years old and has had yearly breast exams was told that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and needed a mastectomy. She had both breasts removed. Late last September she went into the hospital and was there for 2 days while I stayed with her. The last couple of weeks since she’s been home have been a tough one on her. She was told by the doctor that because of her age, taking the medication Tamoxifin will be much beneficial for her than having chemotherapy. We will wait and see what happens.
The reason I’m posting this is that I would like to have my women readers aware that you too need to get checked as early as 30 years old. I’ve had 3 friends that had a mastectomy at that age. I too will be having my yearly breast exam on my birthday. Why don’t you do the same for your birthday? Let’s enjoy life but also be aware that we have to take care of ourselves. Ask your friends to do the same. It’s a great way to tell them you love them. I love you Mom!
